More and more people are learning how to read food labels.
Just recently, The Herald-Dispatch reported that WVFEDUP held a student conference at the Cabell. County Schools Transportation Complex in Lesage, West Virginia where kids learned about food labels.
Teachers and professionals (and likely many parents) who attended were looking to help children take a more. Proactive role in their overall state of health. Instead of simply believing what food manufacturers say is in their products. Professionals are teaching kids to read food labels. So they can determine the contents’ ingredients for themselves.
The WVFEDUP movement spawned out of a 2014 documentary called “Fed Up,” which discuss. How the amount of sugar in processed foods was contributing to obesity in America. The Barboursville Middle School plans to purchase a healthy food cart after they recently received a grant.
Olivia Turman, a 13-year-old student at Barboursville Middle School said the. Cart will test whether kids will eat a healthy snack if given the choice.
“Concession stands are full of sugar and fried foods,” said Turman. “We want to take it there to see if kids would rather have a healthy snack. If they could choose that, would they?”
This level of awareness isn’t going away, and it’s important manufacturers get out in front of it. Doing so can help them save face, while also allowing them to cater to a brand new, enthusiastic audience.

1. Be Transparent
People young and old are taking the time to learn how to read often confusing food labels. Which is like reading a second language. This means one thing: They would likely appreciate companies.
